Condense Matter and Statistical Physics
The course introduces the elementary concepts of Solid State Physics to students with a basic knowledge of Quantum Mechanics and Atomic Physics. The course emphasizes the connection with the properties of real materials and can also be used as an introduction to (theoretical) Materials Science. Topics covered include bonds, crystals, phonons, electronic states, free-electron and tight-binding models.
The course was recorded in 2011 when it was given to the students of
the ICTP Postgraduate Diploma Course in Physics.
